Christiansburg Wesleyan Church is part of the The Shenandoah District of The Wesleyan Church with World Headquarters in Fishers, Indiana.  The Wesleyan Church is an Evangelical, Protestant denomination that was formed in 1968 resulting from the mergers of several likeminded groups, dating back as far as 1843.  The Wesleyan church has its roots in John Wesley’s Methodism.  The Wesleyan Church has nearly 400,000 constituents in 5,000 churches and missions in 80 countries of the world.

Christiansburg Wesleyan Church started in 1945 from a tent meeting after a Sunday School was started in the home of Rev. Perl Alred at 212 Harless Street.  In 1947 a garden spot was used to build a house that became the Pilgrim Holiness Mission and in 1949 a lot was purchased at 1030 Harless Street.

In 1993 a six acre piece of land was purchased and the relocation process began.  In the fall of 1997 the church dedicated its new property.  Under Dr. David and Debbie Hurd’s leadership and vision of the congregation the church moved to a six acre complex for ministry at 525 Harkrader Street.  While the old facility held great memories its six car parking and small sanctuary was not sufficient for a growing ministry.  Upon burning of this mortgage we will begin phase two which includes a ministry center and Sunday School classrooms for children, youth, and adults.

We have partnered with Mt. View Wesleyan Church of Blacksburg, VA and provide three services a week for that congregation with a total of six services a week with a host of ministries.
